Tempe
Tempe, AZ - Tuesday, April 5, 2005
With the Tempe Arts Festival finally over (and Mill Avenue open to traffic again for the first time since I touched down in Arizona) it was off to downtown Tempe. Primary destination - Long Wongs, or at least the empty building, on Mill Avenue.
The adventure also took us past 'A' Mountain, Sun Devil Stadium (Arizona State University), Monti's La Case Vieja Resturant for dinner (steakhouse in the historic Hayden Ferry building) and Hayden Square, venue to The Refreshments' last ever performance in 1998. The night was finished with a final walk past Long Wongs, the birthplace of the Gin Blossoms, Dead Hot Workshop, The Refreshments, & every other Tempe band worth mentioning, closed in April last year (2004).
